Hiring for Attitude

I would like to share an article by Dan Schawbel where he talks to author Mark Murphy exploring why New hires fail because of their attitude

Mark’s research has tracked 20,000 new hires and found that 46% of new hires fail within 18 months, 89% of the time it was due to attitudinal reasons with only 11% due to a lack of skill.

The attitudinal deficits were a lack of coachability, low levels of emotional intelligence, motivation and temperament.

Do these results surprise you? I would be interested to hear your thoughts.
